Rebekah 가 #ForTheMusic 라는 이름의 새로운 캠페인을 시작하였다.

테크노 DJ/Producer Rebekah 는 지난 주에 그의 Instagram 계정에 음악 산업에서 일어나고 있는 성추행과 성폭행에 반대하는 새로운 캠페인을 시작하였다. 이 캠페인은 그의 팔로워들로 하여금 change.org 에 자유롭게 글을 기고하도록 한다.

그녀는 다음과 같이 적고 있다. :

“음악 산업에서 힘을 가지고 있는 남성들에게 성적으로 유린 당한 여성들의 증언이 여기 저기에서 터져나오고 있는 지금, 저는 이 상황이 얼마나 잘못되어 있는지를 분석해야 겠다는 생각을 하였습니다.”

“우리는 장님이 되었고, 벙어리가 되었으며, 오랜 시간동안 이루어져 온 이 상황을 그저 지켜보기만 하였습니다.”

“그들이 결국에는 섹시즘과 추행, 최악의 경우에는 성폭행과 강간을 마주하고 그 문제에 대해 침묵하는 상황을 마주하게 될 것임을 확실히 아는 상황에서, 저는 어떻게 여성들과 LGBQT++ 커뮤니티의 사람들에게 멘토링을 할 수 있을까요.”

Rebekah 는 서약에 대한 개요를 다음과 같이 서술하였다.

• 아티스트, 피고용인들, 그리고 청중들이 성추행으로부터 보호받는다.
• 아티스트와 퍼포머들이 침묵의 문화를 종결시킬 것을 요구하며, 그들이 성적인 범죄가 일어나는 것을 목도했을 시에 발언을 하고, 피해자의 편에 설 것을 요구한다.
• 클럽이 퍼포머, 피고용인들, 그리고 청중들이 성적인 범죄로부터 자유로울 수 있도록 안전한 공간이 될 것임을 책임진다.

After all the reports coming out from women who have been sexually assaulted in the industry at the hands of powerful men had really made me analyse the scene and how it really is fucked up. We have turned a blind eye, stayed silent and let things carry on how they have always been for far too long. 👇🏽 After deciding I would like to mentor people to help bring them in to the industry it became apparent I was unable to do this unless I stood up and tried to fight to make the industry a safer place all round. How can I mentor women and members of the LGBQT++ community, knowing they will face sexism, harassment and at worst, assault and rape and stay silent on this issue. 👇🏽 We have a great opportunity to now assess what kind of industry we want to return to when it opens back up, what kind of people we place in these powerful positions and how we can we make clubs, festivals and after parties a safer place. 👇🏽 We all must be accountable and speak up about the abusers, allow people the benefit of the doubt when claiming abuse, as many stay silent for fear of retribution.
